Mondays with Marianne

Hello Lovelies!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was very busy – getting my hair dyed, record shopping, having lovely dinner dates with the boy and joining my friends for a crafternoon on Sunday. My dear friend is pregnant and is not too far away from popping, so we were making decorations and favors for the belly blessing. Normally you would have a baby shower but being the modern gal she is it’s a party for everyone, even the boys get to come and bless the belly.

I have of course been sewing and have something ready to photograph but must wait for the daylight on the weekend! These short daylight hours really bother me…

I've also been trying my hand at quilting and have been working on some gifts for the baby. I’ll show the photos later on as I don’t want to spoil the surprise for my friend.

Otherwise I've been reading two biographies at once – Eric Clapton’s and Marianne Faithfull’s.

I've got a sudden desire to read biographies lately, even ones I've already read and listening to a mixture of Cream, Marianne Faithfull and The Stones. When reading biographies, I like to also listen to music – usually to the one they are talking about at that moment. It helps cement the story and puts me in the moment.

Do you sometimes do the same when reading a book?

I’ll leave you for now to enjoy your Monday with some lovely Marianne in the movie Made in U.S.A

  1. Hi again, dear Catherine! Is it safe to assume that your friend who's soon expecting a baby is not Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge? :) Please allow me to add my belly blessing for your friend.

It's a super idea to add a soundtrack whilst reading a biography. I never tried it but I don't think it would work for me because I am easily distracted by sound and would probably stop reading and only listen to the music.

Marianne is perfectly lovely, isn't she? It's wonderful to hear her pure voice as she sings her hit song a cappella. I remember the first time I saw her performing "As Tears Go By" on Hullabaloo London in late 1964. Marianne's record went to #22 stateside and she followed with three other top 40 U.S. hits, "Come and Stay With Me," "This Little Bird" and "Summer Nights."

Good night to you in Sydney, dear Cat, and thank you once again for honoring me with the Liebster and for your cheery visit to my blog over the weekend!

    1. Haha! No... But we do share the same name!
i usually take a moment to listen to the song and lyrics and then keep reading. But i commute to work, so the more i can block out the better. music and reading!

      Have a happy Tuesday!

  2. I've got a friend who was due to pop yesterday and despite plying her with jalapeno laced pizza on Saturday night the baby's sitting tight!
I do that as well, read a riveting bio and immerse myself in the music. xxx

    1. Oh no! I hope she didn't go into labor yesterday? Imagine all those poor babies who's birth was overshadowed by the little princes! gah!
      Take care!

  3. I go through biography phases too! Last summer I read Ozzy's & finished Slash's. I still gotta get going on Led Zeppelin's after I finish Game of Thrones ;) lol.
Cant wait to see what you've been sewing!

    1. Oh cool! I have Jimmy Pages biography on my reading list - But its not a tell-all book like most biographies - its apparently music focus which is cool. Which Led Zeppelin one do you have?
