Pattie Darling!

March 17th may have been St Patrick's day for some of you, but if you are after something else to celebrate, then why not Pattie's day!

That's right, Pattie Boyd, the lovely 60's dollybird also celebrates her birthday on the 17th of March. As her mother had assumed she would be a boy, a name was never picked for her, so being born on the day of a saint was an easy pick!

Pattie is a favourite of mine. I even made a suit in her name and managed to remember her birthday!

Pattie darling!

For the unfamiliar, Pattie Boyd was a 60s model, muse and all 'round sweet girl. Known mostly for her marriage to George Harrison and later to Eric Clapton, Pattie has also made a name for herself in recent years as a photographer and has held exhibitions of her old and new photos around the world

Pattie had met George on the set of A hard days night and inspired him to write the love song 'Something'. They separated in 1974 and divorced in 1977

For many years she had also rebuffed the affections of Eric Clapton who wrote 'Layla' in her honour. They eventually married in 1979 but divorced in 1988.

While she may be most famous for the men she married, she was also a striking beauty modelling for Vogue, Mary Quant, Foale and Tuffin and countless advertisements in the 60s and also modelled for Ossie Clark in the early 70s

As a model, Pattie was already some what well known, and she was lucky enough to score a one-line role in The Beatles film 'A hard days night.'

  1. She was such a pretty thing! As for the last photo, I remember watching 'George Harrison: Living in the material world' with my parents and my mum made a remark about how she thought it was terrible that she'd tried to keep the same look she had when she was young because that's how people remember her and that it looked ridiculous. She doesn't look ridiculous in the slightest to me- I agree that she still is beautiful.

    1. Oh wow. that's an bizarre thing to say! haha. I would totally want to keep my style into old age, but there is a difference to looking good and well presented when your older and the "mutton dressed as lamb" look i see sometimes. I also find it strange when older ladies cut their hair very short when they get older. Whats wrong with having long hair? grey or any colour for that matter

  2. Its the Dollyrockers connection that I love - she was the muse for my favourite brand of vintage frocks! love the Nehru collared maxi, I want it! xxx

    1. Oh me too! I wish that photo was in colour so i could see what it was like

  3. Ah lovely Pattie, I never knew that her birthday was on St Patrick's day xx

  4. Oh I love Pattie, what a wonderful post! I'm glad you included a more recent photo also, she's still such a beautiful woman. If I can look even half as good as she does when I'm 70 I'll be one happy lady!

    1. oh gosh i hope i look as good as her too! guess i should stop eating too many chocolates...

  5. Replies
    1. Totally! Almost as much of a babe as you! ;)

  6. she's so pretty! i really love Pattie. Thanks for sharing about her. I didn't know her birthday was March 17! So neat

    1. I guess its easy to remember her birthday St Patrick's = Pattie kinda the same. haha

  7. Wow, she was beautiful then and beautiful now!

  8. So want her wardrobe! She looks incredible even now. I hope I age that well.

  9. She's one of my favorites, and is such a remarkable woman! I remember being inspired to get bangs/fringe again when I was thirteen because of her! Can't believe that was nearly seven years ago…
